How is your EQ?

How is your EQ?

I recently had the pleasure of facilitating a day of staff teambuilding and coaching, followed by a day of strategic planning for the staff and board of a nonprofit organization.  It was really fun working with people who are focused on positive change in their community and beyond.

As part of the engagement I was able to see the great value of the EQ360 assessment.  This tool from MHS is really rich.  In my corporate life I had the privilege of being the subject of a few different 360 degree evaluations over the years.  While sometimes the feedback includes things that aren’t fun to hear, it is all generally golden.  EQ (a measure of emotional intelligence) has a much bigger impact on success at work (and in life) than IQ (cognitive intelligence).  It is all about relationships.

The EQ360 provides a look at the subject’s emotional intelligence as seen from the self, from manager(s), peers, family/friends, direct reports and others.  There are few opportunities in life to get rich, candid, scientifically validated input from an audience like this.

Let me know if you are interested in learning more about your EQ.

Now Offering EQ-i 2.0 and EQ360 Emotional Intelligence Assessments and Coaching

Now Offering EQ-i 2.0 and EQ360 Emotional Intelligence Assessments and Coaching

I recently completed certification in the the EQ-i 2.0 model of emotional intelligence and can offer this assessment as well as the EQ360 emotional intelligence survey.

Emotional intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that collectively establish how well we:

    • Perceive and express ourselves
    • Develop and maintain social relationships
    • Cope with challenges
    • Use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way

It is a more significant predictor of success in life and work than IQ (cognitive intelligence.  The EQ-i 2.0 is a very highly regarded, scientifically validated way to accurately assess strengths and blind spots.  You take the assessment online in less than 20 minutes.  It is a predictable way to measure current level of emotional and social functioning.  You receive easy to understand feedback on your results including a wealth of interpretive information.  This provides actionable pointers toward better performance.  The EQ360 extends the EQ-i by soliciting feedback from managers, peers, direct reports, family/friends about how your emotional intelligence shows up in your interactions.

Both assessments come with 1:1 coaching to help you interpret and work with the results.  Contact me for more information.

Occasionally we have the good fortune to meet extraordinary humanitarian leaders. People with tremendous courage and tenacity who work in the face of what for most of us would be overwhelming adversity. Two who leap to mind from my travels in recent years include Sunitha Krishnan, founder of Prajwala in Hyderabad, and Rev. Dr. Fredrick […]
